The Wildewood Club, located in northeast Columbia, has once again stepped up to support the Toys for Tots program. This year, the club hosted its annual bicycle assembly event on December 6 at 9:00 AM. The event brought together 70 dedicated volunteers who worked together to assemble 300 bicycles, each accompanied by a helmet and a lock, to be donated to Toys for Tots Midland.
Impressive Track Record of Giving
Over the years, this annual event has made a remarkable impact in the community. Over the last 12 years, The Wildewood Club has donated 2,700 bicycles, helmets, and locks to local children through the Toys for Tots program. These donations help ensure that children in the Midland area receive safe and fun gifts during the holiday season.
Volunteer Effort and Marine Corps Involvement
The assembly event brings together volunteers from across the community, who work side-by-side to build and prepare the bicycles for donation. Volunteers came from a large pool of individuals, including club members, neighbors, BCBSSC employees, employees from the Lowe’s on Two Notch Road and Sparkleberry and, of course, the Marines. The U.S. Marines play a special role in this program, as they arrive to pick up the assembled bikes, continuing their tradition of service and support for Toys for Tots.
