May 2022 Manager Update
MESSAGE from Brad Bourret, General Manager on May 4, 2022.
A Message from the General Manager:
I wanted to give our members at Wildewood an update in all the areas of our club. First, I want to thank everyone for the kind and warm welcome that my wife Sarah and I have received since I started back in January. I have had an opportunity to meet a lot of our members, and I look forward to the opportunity to meet everyone here at the club soon.
Tennis
We are pleased to announce that we have hired Graham Pearson as our new Director of Tennis. We are very confident that Graham will continue to grow our tennis program for all segments of our Membership. We will undoubtedly be most appreciative to Bill Simpson for all his efforts in increasing our tennis programs throughout our community. Graham will be starting at the club Monday, May 9. Be on the lookout for more information regarding clinics and camps for all levels of players.
Graham was born and raised in Greensboro, NC. After high school, Graham started his college career at NC State University and then transferred to Guilford College to continue his passion-tennis. Graham played for the Quakers at Guilford College from 2015 to 2018. During his tenure at Guilford, Graham was a starter in the singles and doubles lineups all three years. Graham graduated with a degree in Business Management and a minor in Sports Administration in 2018. From 201802021, Graham was the head Tennis Professional at Cardinal Swim and Tennis Club in Greensboro. Also, in 2018, he served as the Assistant Tennis coach for the Guilford College Women’s Tennis team. After two years, he moved on to become the Head Tennis Professional at the High Point Country Club. Graham has a solid background in tennis, is highly professional, and is very comfortable with all ages and levels of tennis. His love of the game shows in his excitement about teaching, and he is very excited to grow the game of tennis and the overall tennis experience here at Wildewood.
Swimming Pool
We are close to having the final touches on our swimming pool renovation project. We are just finishing up with new coping around the pool and a newly refinished pool deck. In addition, we have purchased a new diving board that will be installed shortly.
Our summer Swim Team will start practice around May 15, and the pool will open to all members on Saturday, May 28. Signups are still available; if you are interested in having your children or grandchildren on the Wildewood Swim Team, don’t hesitate to contact Wendi Spratt at wendispratt@att.net or Mandi Ingram at mgingram66@Yahoo.com.
The hours at the pool will be:
- Monday 12:00 am to 6:00 pm
- Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 am to 8:00 pm
- Sunday 12:00 to 8:00 pm
We will be starting our summer season at the pool with a limited food menu from the Snack Bar starting on Memorial Day Weekend. As our staff gets a little more experienced, we will be adding additional menu items. I am pretty sure that our members will appreciate being able to get food delivered to them from the Snack Bar wherever they are sitting at the pool.
Golf Course
Our new Golf Course Superintendent, Kyle McClintick, welcomed our New Assistant Superintendent to Wildewood this week. Wes Gainey joins Kyle and his Team and is working on getting the course ready for members to enjoy this season. Our Team is working on cleaning various areas throughout the course, focusing on bunker maintenance. We will be doing irrigation projects and drainage work as they head into summer. Our Board of Directors has recently instructed Kyle to contract with a local tree company for the removal of 300 trees that are currently affecting the health of our turf. This will provide a much healthier turf grass and a much cleaner look on our golf course. You will see work beginning in the next couple of months.
We have recently purchased a new ice machine that will enable us to put much-needed additional ice in all our water coolers that we are using on the golf course and at the driving range. In addition, we will have a water fountain and a water/ice machine in our new pro shop that will enable members to fill up before they play and at the turn.
Golf Shop
Adam Lindley and his Team are in the final stages of getting ready to make a move back into the new Pro Shop. It is fabulous for those who have not seen the new Pro Shop–much lighter and has a whole new fresh look. Thank you to all our members who have been patient while we put on the finishing touches on the new Pro Shop. We are getting ready for our first major of the year, the 2022 Member-Member, on May 20, 21, and 22. We currently have 30 teams signed up, and we are anticipating getting close to 42 teams. If you haven’t signed up yet, call Adam today. adam@thewildewoodclub.com
Membership
Our Membership continues to grow as we have welcomed 23 new members into our club since the beginning of the year. We anticipate this trend to continue as we get our new pro shop, new grill room and pub open, and our newly renovated pool complex. If you happen to know of a family you think may enjoy what Wildewood offers, please reach out to our Membership Director, Kimberley Bagley, for all the details. kimberley@thewildewoodclub.com
