Happy New Year!

Capital Projects Update – Bart Wolfe, PGA General Manager

The Fire Pits have been installed overlooking the stadium courts at the tennis center. Please check with the Tennis Center to reserve these for your group.

The Splash Pad equipment will arrive next week and construction on the new splash pad will start in January. This will be a great new feature for our Swim Center.

We are still exploring options for our Driving Range renovation. The final plans and the timeline for this project will be released soon.

Tennis Report – Bill Simpson, Director of Tennis

Reminder

Please wear face masks while inside the tennis center. Once downstairs, you may take it off to play tennis.

Please remember to sign in and pay for all guests BEFORE you go on court.

Please sign in when playing indoors, and as always be respectful of ending your session promptly when others are waiting for their court!

Court Reservation System

Our court reservation system (reservemycourt.com) has changed. I appreciate your patience throughout this process as it has been difficult to adjust over the past month, however it is getting better! If you need any help setting up your account or are having trouble logging in, please review the following instructions:

To access the new system, you go to https://login.reservemycourt.com.

Once there, login with the same username and password you have always used. This will start a setup wizard that will guide you through transferring your account over to the new system. This will include setting up a new password. Your NEW password must be 10 characters long, contain 1 uppercase letter and 1 symbol. Your username for the new system will be your email address.

For those who do not have an account yet, or cannot recover their password or username, you are able to create a new account with a new email address. When going to the website indicated above, select Create an Account. Fill out all necessary information on the first page.

To make reservations on the new system:

Click on Club Schedule under the Club’s Name on the left side of your screen.
Click on the date near the top of the page to select the day you would like to make the reservation.

Click and hold the mouse button on the time you would like the reservation to start, drag your mouse down to the time you would like the reservation to end and let go of the mouse button.

Complete the reservation wizard to make your reservation. Please be aware that all users may have reasonable limits on the length of reservations or on how far in advance they can reserve courts. If your reservation violates any of the reservation rules for your club, you will not be able to complete your reservation.

Note: Using the web browser works the best when using Google Chrome from a laptop or computer. Using an Ipad or Cell Phone it is best to use the RMC2020 app. You may not create a new account on the app and you are not able to sign up for clinics through the app.

HERE ARE A FEW REMINDERS TO ALL GOLFERS AS WE BEGIN THE NEW YEAR:

We politely request that all golfers make a tee time before coming to the club to play. As we have over 300 full golf members, tee times cannot be guaranteed for walk-ins. This also helps the golf staff to maintain a steady pace of play for all golfers.

Jeans, gym shorts, work out shirts, cut off shirts, and sandals are not allowed at any time on the WildeWood golf course or practice facilities. All shirts must have a collar. Members are responsible for informing their guests of our dress code policies.

We politely ask all golfers to return your cart to the area near the cart barn upon completion of play. This really helps our outside staff to be more efficient in the cleaning/sanitizing of the golf carts. We appreciate all the members who do this already!

We politely ask that golfers (and their guests) do not take the green towels that are provided in each cart. Please leave them in your cart following the completion of play.

Please return cart to the path near TEE BOXES and 30 YARDS FROM THE GREEN. Carts must also remain on the path on ALL PAR 3’S.

TO ALL DOG WALKERS:

Please do not allow your dog to walk near any TEES, GREENS, OR BUNKERS. This helps to prevent any unnecessary damage to the golf course.

State law requires all pets must be on a leash when walking on the golf course or in the WildeWood neighborhood.

WALKERS AND DOG WALKERS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE WILDEWOOD GOLF COURSE FROM 8:30 AM TO 4:30 PM.

As we begin a new year, we thank all our members for their patience and support over the past year. We strive everyday to make this club a family-friendly environment that everyone can enjoy. We look forward to another great year as we continue to learn and grow as a club and as a community!

Superintendent Report – Grayson Clark, GCSAA

Happy New Year from the Agronomy Department. I first want to personally send the thanks and love from everyone down here for the Christmas bonus. 2020 was a crazy year and it really put a strain on several staff members and your generosity does not go unnoticed or unappreciated!

We got our first several holes of brush cut in December and will continue this project through most of January. December saw the first of 3 applications of paint to tees and fairways for a little winter color. Like we mentioned in last month’s newsletter the paint gives us both a little definition to the course in the dreary season as well as will helps with Spring green-up. As the month closed, we also got out our post-emergent herbicide application. Though we were substantially cleaner this Winter than last, weeds will continue to be an uphill battle for us, but we are making headway.

Also, in January and February we will begin to shrink the size of and re-grass the edges of several bunkers. This will include bringing grass all the way down the steep faces of many. This project will be done in several phases as we try to limit the number of deliveries and cost associated with each. If you find yourself in one of these bunkers, please treat them as ground under repair and play accordingly. We will start by adding form boards to the shape we are looking for, back fill with fill dirt, then after we get several prepped, will get a delivery of sod to grass them all. And repeat. Though it is typical golf etiquette, it will be even more important not to enter or exit these bunkers on the high sides as the sod will not begin to root until our Spring temperatures get here. We will staple the sod into place and rope these areas off but please help us protect your investment. This project will be an ongoing in-house project and we will continue to chip away at the 65 bunkers on the course throughout the year as time and labor allows. Our current goal is to knock out 20% of the bunkers this winter.

The lack of size of the range tee continues to be a problem considering the number of golfers we have using it regularly. We are filling divots and re-seeding weekly but with the colder temperatures cannot seem to get the seed germinated and growing faster than we are beating it up. We will begin tarping a section or 2 at a time in attempts to keep the soil warm and stimulate some growth. Please note these tarps can be extremely slippery if frost is present so avoid walking across them whenever possible.

I am glad we have finally put 2020 in the rearview mirror and am excited to see what all 2021 has in store for us. Please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns and I look forward to seeing you on the course.

Happy New Year and Regards,
